Reprogramming the subconscious mindNever experienced hypnosis? I bet you have!
You know when you're driving a familiar route and you arrive at the destination with no recollection of the journey? Or you become engrossed in a book or film and.... oops, burned the dinner. You have no awareness of the passing of time although you remain, to all intents and purposes, conscious. You are able to 'awaken' at any point if there is an unexpected change, such as a stray pedestrian in the road or a sudden smell of burning.
Working with your subconsciousAt these times your brain has entered a trance state. It's normal.
Hypnotherapy is not stage hypnosis. It's about entraining the brainwaves into the trance state to access the subconscious. When the brain enters a very relaxed state of theta brainwave activity, it is possible to 'reprogram' a learned behaviour.
When your conscious brain is 'in charge', you might be telling yourself 'don't eat/drink/do....., it's bad for me'. You might be berating yourself that your emotional response to something is 'ridiculous - get a grip - this isn't rational'. BUT you can be completely sabotaged by your subconscious brain which holds onto a very different message, perhaps from childhood.
This is where hypnotherapy comes in. It's useful for anxiety, exam stress, fears and phobias. All the irrational 'stuff' we carry around.
It can be useful for motivation and changing behaviour patterns.
The theta brainwave state is also the meditative state and can be used to access Past Lives and other information stored at a subconscious level.
